Iron Bark House, Dimbulah….the start of the OUTBACK
Ironbark House situated on a ridgeline gazing out across the wilderness over Mount Mulligan Station offers complete seclusion and tranquillity allowing you to immerse yourself in the natural environment.
This unique, totally off-grid 1345 acre property which has its own stand-alone solar power and harvests all its own water, is located on the outskirts of the Atherton Tablelands in the farming district of Dimbulah on route to Mt Mulligan and Chillagoe.
Egrets Rest, Daintree
Egrets Rest – Daintree birdwatching accommodation in the heart of the Daintree Village is owned and operated by enthusiastic birdwatchers with good local birding knowledge and is currently a river guide on the Daintree River.
Egrets Rest is a modern self-contained house it can accommodate up to 6 guests with the 2 x Rooms with Queen size beds and 2 x rollaway beds if required upon request.
The Lodge is set in 4.5h of rainforest grounds and is a birdwatchers and naturalists paradise. Situated at the foot of the Mt Lewis ranges at an altitude of 440m and near the town of Julatten the Lodge is 1.5 hours from Cairns in Tropical North Queensland.
Accommodation is available in comfortable self-contained units, spacious 2-bedroom villas and budget bunkhouse rooms, all with verandas overlooking the tropical gardens. Limited camping is available.
Bushland Cottages and Lodge
Yungaburra 740m, is centrally located to the cool Atherton Tablelands, only 70kms from the international Cairns Airport.
The Lodge and cottages are set in 3Ha of forest, yet 200m from the picturesque village of Yungaburra and its fine dining restaurants, shops and all facilities.
Bordering Peterson Creek, home to the platypus, the Lumholtz tree kangaroo, tropical birds and butterflies.
Sweetwater Lodge
Sweetwater Lodge not only offers two outstanding private luxury lodges each accommodating two people, but also offers keen birders great opportunities for Bird-watching and Nature Photography. Fall out of bed at the crack of dawn and wander leisurely through the various habitats on offer at our exclusive and expansive property of over 160 acres with walking tracks throughout. No need to drive anywhere! Currently 145 species recorded on the property, but records only recently attained.
Bustard Downs
Bustard Downs comprises of over 200 acres of privately owned ex-tobacco farms, at Maryfarms, situated between Mt. Molloy and Mt. Carbine, on the Mulligan Highway within easy access to Mt. Lewis, Julatten, Mt. Carbine, Lake Mitchell and is surrounded by Brooklyn Station.
The Bird Hide Malanda
It’s Bird HQ in Malanda, FNQ. It’s 3 acres of private gardens, yours to enjoy after a day out exploring the beautiful surrounds of the Atherton Tablelands and it’s a birders heaven. The Bird Hide is the perfect base camp for your travels. Malanda is conveniently located, close to many of the Tablelands attractions with waterfalls, National Parks, unique wildlife and amazing scenery all within an easy drive.
Birdhaven Cottage, Julatten – The birds come to you…
Built with bird watchers in mind, the cottage is nestled into the bush, with a bird attracting pond at the end of a deck that looks out over a steep rainforest gully with some views towards Mount Lewis.
The cottage has a generous sized bedroom with a queen bed and in the living room there is also the option of a double sofa bed, so the cottage can host up to four people, but ideally is designed for two people. The kitchenette has everything needed for cooking, with guests only needing to bring their food supplies.
